I made it to Yarn! As luck would have it, the Cosmosphere closed early on Saturday. Even though we were running late because of an “extended” tour at the Underground Salt Museum, I managed to come squealing into the parking spot in front of Yarn at about 5:30. The lovely ladies in the store were waiting for me, and had even checked out my blog. I wasn’t sure if I should feel like they were interested in me or were stalking me. But, they pointed me in the right direction for my chunky yarn and some locally dyed sock yarn (and, as I am often heard saying, you can never have too much sock yarn). I picked up four skeins of Lang Mille Fiamme for my medusa scarf. I also found six skeins of Kertzer Meadows in a pink color for one of my After Enough Wine partners. I’m still on the lookout for the third chunky yarn purchase for the third partner. I am certain I will find it soon. The sock yarn is called Knitty Bits. No two skeins are the same. Each one a perfect work of art. Some pics below:

Thanks to Shannon for the laugh about ninja penguins!

I was disappointed to not find the square needles. Colorful Yarns here in Denver carries them, but my last trip I could only find size 0 dpns. I purchased them, of course. In fact, I used them last night to knit up a swatch of the Knitty Bits for my favorite toe up socks. Alas, that combination results in 10 sts/in which may just be too much for socks. Around my 9” foot, that’s a lot of stitches. I have too many projects going on right now, so I’m trying really hard not to start another one until I get some finished items off my list. I guess we’ll see. One of those unfinished projects is to get all my WIPs up on Ravelry and link progress bars to the blog….I haven’t done it because I spend my spare time knitting. Someday….

This weekend, I have a little trip planned. I’m headed out to Hutchinson, KS to see the Cosmosphere, the Underground Salt Museum, and Yarn, the store! Bet you can’t guess which one excites me most!

Anyway, I’m on the hunt for some chunky yarn to make some medusa scarves and a lot of DK weight yarn to make the SWTC Peacock Vest. I think I’d also like to get a few more pairs of square needles. I have a lace project that just pains my hands, so I will try the square ones and see how they do.

Yarn, the store – I’m on the way! See you this weekend!

I have truly been neglecting this blog – and even the whole website. Since I decided to make all my patterns free at the beginning of 2010, I just let the site sit as a placeholder. I’m blowing off the dust and writing again. I hope to use this blog more in 2011. Things are changing rapidly for our family, and I look forward to sharing more of my projects with you.

I’ve been working a lot at Blankets for Deployed Daddies and uploaded the new crochet pattern yesterday. We are getting a lot of volunteers and requests, so it’s an exciting time! (Which reminds me, I have a very important rush request to ship out tonight).

Thanks for your support through the years, and I look forward to sharing with you in 2011 and beyond. You’ll notice our new tagline – Ps 46:10. I hope you’ll look it up and adopt the philosophy. You’ll feel more peaceful, too.

I am moving the website over to WordPress for ease of maintenance. The old software was out of date and labor intensive to update, so I am excited for the new move. I didn’t move over all the blog posts from my old site, but any patterns you might be looking to find are over in my Ravelry store. I hope to post here more regularly, but as things go, the busy-ness of life tends to get in the way.
